Mishima Kaiun Academic Award
This award has as its purpose the objective of recognizing younger scholars (under 45 years of age) who abound with creativity and possess especially superlative research capabilities in research fields in the natural sciences and humanities, and supporting the development of their research.
The scholarship was established in 2012 on the occasion of the Foundation’s 50th anniversary.
Academic Research Grants
Natural Sciences Division Research Support
The Mishima Kaiun Memorial Foundation provides research support related to the science of food.
Research support is provided with an upper limit of 1 million yen per grant for individual research, and 5 million yen per grant for joint research.
Humanities Division Research Support
The Mishima Kaiun Memorial Foundation provides research support in the fields of humanities and social sciences related to Asia.
Research support is provided with an upper limit of 1million yen per grant for individual research, and 5 million yen per grant for joint research.
Specific Research Grants
The Specific Research Grant will designate “The Future of Food and Human Society” as the specific research topic and will support excellent collaborative research in different fields of natural sciences and humanities and social sciences.
This grant will be established in 2025 with the aim of contributing to a sustainable future society from the perspective of “food”.
Academic Activities Support
Subsidies meant to cover a portion of the costs needed to hold international seminars, symposia, lectures, workshops, and so forth of a relatively small scale on specific topics overseen by universities, research institutions, academic associations, and the like.
